Do you want to learn more about paranormal science, and be able to put it to use?
Then PRAB Public Investigations are for you!
This month’s investigation is with the Colonial House Inn. Located on Historic Old King’s Highway, The Colonial House Inn was constructed in the 1730′s. The original structure was a two story Federal style building with a hip roof built by the Josiah Ryder family. Shortly after, it was acquired by Captain Joseph Eldrige, and for the next 100 years was known as the Eldrige House.
In the 1820′s a house was floated over from Nantucket and placed on a foundation at the rear of the building. During the 1860′s Dr. Azariah Eldrige, then the owner, moved the house and added it to the main structure. At that time he also constructed the third floor with its mansard roof, and the Doric portico in the front of the house giving it the present Victorian look.
Previous owners included U.S. Congressman Thomas Thacher, Charles F. Swift the noted Cape historian, Ella Bray local Yarmouthport historian, and the Simpkins family. The inn was purchased by Malcom Perna in 1979 and extensively renovated to provide the three intimate dining rooms and spacious guest rooms, all with private baths. In 1988, the Inn was placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the interior.
The cost is $75 Per Person sharing. ($150 per room, private rooms available) including breakfast, dinner, and investigation. All rooms have private baths, cable TV’s, VCR’s, free wireless DSL, A/C, phones, Canopy beds, and lovely antiques. The Inn also has a heated indoor pool & Jacuzzi, Garden sitting area, sun deck, Free Business Computer Room, Full public Restaurant & Lounge.
